As the situation of COVID-19 develops in the world, the Program Committee and Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Latin American and Caribbean Studies inform members and participants that we have now taken the decision to cancel the upcoming 2020 CALACS Conference at the University of Ottawa, May 20-22, 2020, in the interest of public health. Although Ottawa is currently at low risk, it is incumbent upon us all to limit the transmission of the virus.

If you have already paid registration fees, please contact calacs@yorku.ca to receive a full refund. Please note membership fees are not refundable and that current memberships continue to be valid. Members will continue to receive all other benefits of their CALACS membership.

In the meantime, CALACS will continue to develop innovative ways to celebrate and promote the work of its members. The annual prizes normally announced at our conference will be announced electronically between May 20 and 22, 2020. Please be on the lookout for this celebration of Latin American and Caribbean studies!

We will provide information on the plans for our next conference as soon as it is available.
