The Canadian Association for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CALACS) awards five annual prizes

Outstanding Dissertation Award

The purpose of the Outstanding Dissertation Award is to provide recognition to an emerging scholar who has significantly advanced our understanding of Latin America or the Caribbean.

Graduate Essay Prize

This award recognizes the most outstanding essay presented by a graduate student.

CALACS Article Prize for Emerging Scholars

In order to recognize talented emerging scholars in the field of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, this prize is awarded during the annual CALACS Congress for a refereed journal article published in the previous year.

CALACS Book Prize

This award recognizes the best monograph in Latin American and Caribbean Studies published by a CALACS member during the previous year.

CALACS Distinguished Fellow Award

This award is conferred to members and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to CALACS and whose actions have contributed to furthering its Vision and Mission.
